Research On Space Poetics Of Gaston Bachelard

Although ‘Time' and ‘Space' are both core concepts in the human knowledge system,they have not been in the same position for a long time.There are two reasons: First,Western academic circles is overly focused on ‘Time' and historicism;Second,They the long-term neglect of ‘Space'.After the 1960 s,Owe to Western academic circles focused on ‘Space' by Michel Foucault and Lefebvre,‘Space' become a keyword in the postmodern cultural studies theory.Indeed,the research of Gaston Bachelard was earlier than Michel Foucault and Lefebvre's study,and Bachelard's Space research is different than Foucault or Lefebvre.They were studied in social Space,Bachelard was studied in poetics Space.As a pioneer of studying in ‘Space poetics',Bachelard shook the Time literary theory,and created a new research field in ‘Space' theories,his theory also provides a way for the further studying of urban and social space theories.Although Bachelard made such great contribution in the field of artistic space theories,he was not just a literary critic,but also a philosophers,a poet,even a scientist.So this paper will base on the Gaston Bachelard's important books,explain how original poetic thinking was structured,and summarize a method about aesthetic research of space.So this Paper will divide into four parts,mainly:The first part will discuss that how the Space theory was begun and why the Space theory was declined.Meanwhile will discuss the reason why Time occupied the absolute position in history.Henri Bergson's ‘duration' will be a theoretical breakthrough.The second part will focus on ‘Elementary Poetics' and ‘Space Poetics' theories,analyzes the image of Space,for example: House,Basement,Stairway,Attics,Drawer,Box.Then point out Gaston Bachelard's traditional natural aesthetic feelings and expectation about the power of true human.The third part will discuss the connection and difference compare Gaston Bachelard with Heidegger and Foucault or Lefebvre.Then we will analyze the important significance of Space Poetics in history.The fourth part is the conclusion part of this paper.This paper will evaluate Gaston Bachelard's Space theory by a perspective of mass urban culture.The power ideology and body consciousness,are becoming an important component of Space theory and culture research.
