In China,with the rapid development of film market,a new structure of diversification is taking shape in film industry.With the efforts of many film creators and the benefit of national policies,the unpopular documentary films have been entered the cinema's distribution and projection system to achieve the value in social influence,commerce and art.This study takes the domestic documentary film released in 2015,Himalaya Ladder to Paradise,to analyze how it achieve tens of millions of box office through its innovative and effective communication strategies,which has realized the ice-breaking action of domestic non-commercial documentary film published in cinema.By using the methods of literature research,data analysis,comparative analysis,case study and questionnaire,this study analyzed the current situation of the communication for domestic documentary films,as well as the creative features,spread strategies and effects of Himalaya Ladder to Paradise.Through the above methods,it is found that the creative types of domestic documentary films show a trend of diversified development,the substantially increased annual output,and the popular cinema market year by year.It is also found that there are many potential audiences of documentary films,and the trend of audience separation is obvious.It proves that the different propaganda strategies and communication methods will affect the behavior of these consumers.For creative features,based on the perspective of visual anthropology,Himalaya Ladder to Paradise presents residents' images and events in Tibet's social changes through film techniques of weak narrative and anti-climax,which endows the film with unique humanistic feelings and attractive aesthetics of documentary.For dissemination and communication strategies,the "Internet and crowd raising" offers a new financing mode to handle the funding issue for documentary films or other genre films;the low cost but better effect characteristics of word of mouth marketing becomes the booster of the film's dissemination.For communication effects,the butterfly effect of crowed-funding in film industry has opened the way to achieve the tremendous box office;word-of-mouth communication has stimulated the long potential incomes;the creative design with unique humanistic concern has fostered diverse habits of audience for viewing,and stimulated emotional resonance among the distinct culture.Based on the analysis of the communication strategies of the domestic documentary film,Himalaya Ladder to Paradise,this analysis found the reasons and methods of how it takes the lead in entering the cinema and becomes a phenomenal documentary film without a previous model,so as to provide a directive reference for the development of communication strategies of the domestic documentary films aimed at cinema publishing.
