This practical report is excerpted from the book A Thompson Sister Novel ? : The Last Hour(hereinafter referred to as The Last Hour),which is the third part of the trilogy A Thompson Sister Novel,written by American writer Charles Sheehan-Myers.The other two books are A Thompson Sister Novel? :The Song of Julia,and A Thompson Sister Novel ? :Just Remember to Breath.In the process of translation,the author,guided by Vermeer's Skopos theory,follows the Skopos principle,faithful principle and coherent principle,and adopts different translation techniques to complete the translation practice.The translation practice report consists of five parts.Firstly,it introduces the background,significance and purpose of translation practice,and then describes the translation task,including the main contents translation task,language characteristics,and the requirements of the entrusting party.The third part is the process of translation,including the preparatory work before translation,difficulties in translation and post-translation collation.The fourth part is case analysis of translation,including the translation of coined terms,idioms and oxymoron,passive voice translation and nominal clause translation.The fifth part is the conclusion part,covering the description of translation problems and the inspiration for the author.Through the translation practice on the Internet platform and the writing of the translation practice report,the author makes clear of the translation theory,distinguishes the definitions of translation strategies,translation methods and translation techniques.Based on this,the author can also better apply them to translation practice.
