A Translation Report Of Amended And Restarted Receivables Purchase Agreement

This report is completed on the basis of the translation of the Part 1 to Part 7 of Amended and Restarted Receivables Purchase Agreement(reprinted in 2003).This agreement is a legal text,which has the characteristics of high frequency of use of modal verbs in the legal text.Accurate expression is required in translation practice.Through reading relevant books and searching for relevant literature,the author found that there is a great controversy about the English-Chinese translation of modal verbs.At the same time,in the process of translating the source text into Chinese,the author is also troubled by the high-frequency words such as modal verbs “shall” and “will”.Therefore,the author of this report selects the Part 1 to Part 7 of Amended and Restarted Receivables Purchase Agreement(reprinted in 2003)as the source English text and the two modal verbs “shall” and “will” in the text,which are frequently used in the agreement,are extracted as the objects for discussing,so as to explore the English-Chinese translation of modal verbs “shall” and “will”,with a view to try the author's best to provide supplement and reference for the usage of modal verbs in the translation of legal texts in the future.
