Asset Purchase Agreement is an agreement between both parties as to the contractual obligations and rights in the course of asset purchase.The report intends to study the translation methods of English modal verbs in the Asset Purchase Agreement and concludes the writer 's experience in translating.The report is under the theoretical guidance of skopos theory and the writer uses case analysis and summarizes the translation methods of English modal verbs which occur more frequently in the Asset Purchase Agreement as follows:1.While shall expresses the meaning of obligation and responsibility,it can be translated into ?(de)or ??(yingdang).Sometimes,omission can be used in translating in accordance with specific conditions.2.While may expresses the meaning of permission,it can be translated into ?(ke)or ??(keyi);while may expresses the meaning of possibility,it can be translated into ??(keneng).3.While will expresses the meaning of "what should do in the future",it can be translated into ?(jiang).However,based on the Chinese expressive habits,omission can be used in translating.Consequently,the writer concludes and summarizes practical translating methods of modal verbs in business contract after the systematic and exhaustive analysis in the hope of providing some reference for the future translation of business contract.The writer also hopes this report can help translators accurately convey the information of the original text to customers to avoid economic dispute and business losses.
