A Report On E-C Translation Of Official Gold Coast Visitor Guide 2016 From The Perspective Of Reception Aesthetics

As one of the most dominant and energetic industries in the world,global tourism plays an essential role in every aspect of social life.Promotional material in the form of brochures,pamphlets,posters,leaflets and the like is published for the purpose of informing tourists of the attractions provided and services available so as to luring them for traveling to a certain destination.The development of tourism industry plays an essential role in promoting many other fields.It undertakes the historic mission of establishing intercultural communication and apprehension.It is of paramount practical and academic significance to carry out tourism translation studies.With the improvement of people's living standards and longing for natural attractions in other countries,as well as the purpose of understanding foreign cultures and broadening horizons,the number of Chinese tourists travelling abroad has been growing dramatically.Therefore,tourism translation has become an important project worth exploring.At present,the research by domestic scholars mainly focus on China's tourism foreign publicity,and the related papers on the translation of traditional Chinese attractions account for a large share.The number of papers on the translation of English tourist brochures is fairly limited.As one of the most important forms of tourism texts,the value of the tourist guidebook is inseparable from readers' participation.In the process of translating tourism manuals,we should fully consider the readers' horizon of expectation,including cognitive level,aesthetic experience,aesthetic tendency,acceptability,and emphasize readers,acceptability.Research in this area can better guide the practice of tou:rism translation and bring about progress in the promotion and development of tourism industry.Australia has long been favored by tourists with beautiful coastlines and natural scenery.Meanwhile,the author has also developed a keen interest in the Gold Coast during his studies in Australia,with the hope of providing information to help Chinese tourists and getting to know Australian landscapes as well as local culture through the Gold Coast tourism text as translation practice.This thesis attempts to proceed the translation of the Official Gold Coast Visitor Guide 2016 under the guidance of Reception Aesthetics,starting with two key conceptions:integration of horizons and broadening the horizon of expectation.This article summarizes the translation methods of the tourist guidebook and aims to actively concern the target readers from the aspects of linguistic convention,cultural backgrounds,and aesthetic experience,translation strategies such as amplification,combination,and the method of referring parallel are adopted to achieve the fusion of readers,expectation while broadening the reader's horizon of expectations in order to achieve the purpose of inspiring readers and attracting tourists.
