Since 1833 when Britain sent troops to the Malvinas Island and its affiliated islands, the sovereignty of the Malvinas Island and its affiliated islands has become a core issue in the relationship between Britain and Argentina. In 1980,after the US Reagan administration came into power,it continued the previous administration's "neutral policy" on the sovereignty dispute between the UK and Malvinas Island, and actively provided help for the negotiations between the UK and Afghanistan. In December 1980,Britain and Afghanistan were invited to resume negotiations on the sovereignty of the islands in New York.American secretary of state William Hague actively mediated and went to London for communication on the basis of reaching the Buenos Aires amendment with Argentina. After the failure of Hague's neutral mediation, the United States continued to put forward the US-Peru mediation plan and the US-Brazil mediation plan, but the relevant efforts failed. From December 1980 to February 1981,Britain and Argentina were invited to resume negotiations on the sovereignty of the islands in New York. However, the two sides did not reach consensus on the sovereignty of the Malvinas Island and the right of the islanders to self-determination.From December 1981 to March 1982,the negotiations between Britain and Afghanistan resumed again. The two sides had serious differences, and Galtieri decided to seize the Malvinas Island by force. In April 1982,the Malvinas war broke out.In May 1982,the United States adopted the national security council of the United States no.34,which formally established the policy of American aid to Britain and sanctions against Argentina. After the end of the Falklands War,the United States actively repaired the US-Africa partnership. On the one hand,in July 1982,it passed the "7? 12 Statement" to end the sanctions against Afghanistan. On the other hand,in August 1982,the United States and Afghanistan held the "Santo Domingo Talks" and the relationship between the United States and Afghanistan was rapidly normalized. From 1981 to 1984,the policy adjustment of the United States in the south Atlantic conflict was fundamentally subject to the pattern of the international cold war and the cold war strategy of the United States. In order to compete with the Soviet Union, the United States needed to consolidate its special partnership with Britain to stabilize its European front. At the same time,in order to resist the penetration of the Soviet Union in Latin America, the United States also needs to include Argentina in its global strategic orbit to consolidate its American backyard. As a result, the United States has generally pursued a "tightrope" strategy of co-opting its ally, the UK,and partner,Argentina. After the war, relations with Argentina improved rapidly from the initial "neutrality" to the wartime conversion to Britain. The United States seeks to maximize its interests in the south Atlantic conflict. In addition, domestic factors such as the introduction of Reaganism, the United States state department, the United States department of defense, etc.,the conservative policies of the British Thatcher government, and the tough diplomacy of Argentine President Galtieri contributed to the policy adjustment of the United States in the conflicts in the south Atlantic. From 1981 to 1984,the policy pursued by the United States in the south Atlantic conflicts consolidated the special partnership between the United States and Britain, eased the Anti-American wave in Latin America, stabilized the backyard of Latin America, and directly served the international cold war strategy of the United States. In the trilateral relationship between the United States,Britain and Argentina the United States,as an ally and partner of the two countries, should deal with the relationship between the two countries as a third party when war breaks out between the Allies. The policy of the United States in the south Atlantic conflict has certain enlightenment and reference significance.
