Soccer is played by 250 million people in more than 200 countries,making it the world?s most popular sport.The worldwide influence attracts ever-increasing attention into the sport.Many academic institutions around the world now offer programmes of study specifically related to soccer.Many soccer teams now routinely employ practitioners from the various subdisciplines of sport science with the aim of improving sporting performance,which indicates that soccer science plays a vital role in the development of soccer.The development of soccer has been put on a strategic agenda in China.The translator hopes the translation can be used as a reference for domestic soccer practitioners.Tony Strudwick is the fitness coach of Manchester united.He has working experience in national and international performance structures,providing strategic and long-term planning for management of elite athletes.He is the editor of Soccer Science.This book discusses the soccer science from the angles of physiology,psychology and biomechanics,and analyzes the content of the daily training of famous matches and teams.With plain language and detailed information,it is simple to provide coaches and players with a scientific reference.This report is done on the basis of the translation practice of this book.Due to the existence of many unique words and sentences in the sports text,like terms,compound words,common words with special meanings and lots of long and difficult sentences,the translator adopts such strategies as transliteration,literal translation,free translation and splitting translation in the process of translation.This report consists of an introduction,the main body and a conclusion.The first part is an introduction,which mainly introduces the current situation of football development at home and abroad,as well as the application value and practical significance of sports text translation.The second part is the body,which is composed of three chapters: the second chapter is the task description.The translator briefly introduces the content of Soccer Science and its author,the language features of the original text and the significance of sports text translation.The third chapter is the translation process description.On the basis of understanding the language style,the translator expatiates on the pre-translation preparation and the different strategies adopted in the process of translation for different problems.The fourth chapter is the case analysis.The translator briefly introduces the Functional Equivalence Theory and puts forward corresponding translation strategies according to the language features of the text.The last part is the conclusion.The translator mainly summarizes the translation report,puts forward the unresolved problems in the translation process and relevant thinking,and puts forward the prospect of future translation work and learning.
