A Study Of Variant Characters In Zihui

In the historical development of Chinese characters,there are a large number of variants in each stage.Variant characters not only increase the burden of reading,but also cause confusion.Due to the mistake of copying and the lack of annotations,these variants often become difficult characters over time,causing great trouble to the collation of ancient books,and also unfavorable to the simplification and development of Chinese characters.Zihui is the only complete dictionary before Kangxi Dictionary came out,it breaks the traditional prejudice of "valuing orthodoxy over vulgarity" in dictionary collection,adopts the principle of "collecting both vulgarity" and not only includes the common words in ancient books,but also retains a large number of ancient and modern vulgar words,and properly chooses the words that were not included or omitted in the dictionary in the past.This paper takes Mr.Wang Ning's viewpoint on Chinese character configuration as the basic guiding theory,referring to Mr.Li Guoying's criteria for the classification of variants.And this paper analyses the corpus in Vocabulary one by one and tries to explore the characteristics and rules of the formation of variants.The text is divided into the following parts:The first part is the introduction.At the beginning,it introduces the background of the topic,the purpose and significance of the research,the theoretical principles and research methods of the text.Then it introduces the basic situation of Vocabulary and the establishment,classification and discrimination of variants.Then it divides into three chapters from the three perspectives of isomerism,heterographic,both heterographic and heterographic characteristics,and takes the heterographic characters extracted from Vocabulary as an example to analyze and identify the structural types.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the research achievements and shortcomings of the variant characters in Zihui.
