| This report is written based on the Chinese-English translation program of Research on the Feasibility of China-Mongolia Beef Trade and Food Safety Strategy.The original,a text for China’s international communication,is written by the Project Team of the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center(ATPC)of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs,PRC,who entrusted the author to translate the text from Chapter 4 to Chapter 6.This report covers introduction,program preparation and implementation,case analysis and summary.The translating,based on the Nida’s translation theory of functional equivalence,strikes a balance between the cultural connotation in source text as well as the understanding and identity of target readers.Firstly,the "Introduction " presents the background,task schedule,customer demand and target readers,and then discusses the goal and role of the report.Subsequently,the "Program preparation and implementation" is discussed in pre-translating,while-translating and post-translating.Specifically,the pre-translating explains text analysis,translation theory and style,translation tools and background materials as well as term list.With the support of pre-translating,the while-translating then introduces the program schedule,the translation problems and solutions and relevant translating experience is given in the post-translating.Thirdly,the "Case analysis",as a major part of this report,explores how and why the translation approaches are employed on the aspects of vocabulary,context and culture.Fourthly,the"Conclusion" summarizes the experience of functional equivalence applied in Chinese-English translation and the translators’ professional ethics.To sum up,this report is aimed to provide the translation experience and enhance Chinese international communication capacity. |
