In the development of Chinese contemporary art,the artist's revival of image of mountai ns and waters is an important part that can not be overstepped.On the one hand,as an im portant part of Chinese culture,image of mountains and waters is a symbol of cultural tr adition.On the other hand,image of mountains and waters has become an important me dium on which Chinese contemporary landscape painting relies.This paper takes Yan S hanchun,Cao Jigang and Shangyang paintings,three artists representing the three directi ons of contemporary Chinese image of mountains and waters: the vast illusory type,the pursuit of ancient meaning type and the concept reference type,as the research objects.Through sorting out the literature of image of mountains and waters,and using the result s of style analysis and psychological research,this paper discusses them from three aspe cts: First,from the background of the revival of image of mountains and waters in conte mporary Chinese landscape painting.Starting with the three creative types of landscape and images of mountains and waters,this paper presents the macro-view of renaissance of mountains and waters;secondly,by analyzing the modelling features of mountain,sto ne,cloud and waters,the spatial characteristics of images of mountains and waters and t he texture features of the images,it explores the language characteristics of the three arti sts' paintings;thirdly,it examines the cultural and artistic situation of contemporary Chin a and the differences between artists' individual creation,and explains the contemporary Chinese artists' language characteristics,reasons for the Renaissance of image of mountai ns and waters in Chinese landscape paintings.Through theoretical research,the conclusi on obtained can be transformed into graduation creation with the experimental expressio n of traditional Chinese art as the theme.
