Xuzhou,the hometown of the Han culture as well as the hometown of Liu Bang,enjoys abundant regional characteristics.In the Western Han Dynasty,filial piety was advocated,so the grand burial was prevailed.Xuzhou was endowed with rich resources,so people here were ample in life and fond of music and dance style of Chu.All these provided a foundation for the development of "tomb figures in music and dance posture".The paper takes the "tomb figures in music and dance posture" discovered in the tomb of King of Chu in the Western Han Dynasty in the Xuzhou Museum as the research object.To begin with,the paper makes an illustration on the cultural characteristics of Xuzhou,analyzes the social and cultural background of these works in the process of Chu and Han culture getting integrated with Confucianism,the unique pottery tomb figure style formed under the background of folk music and dance culture characterized by simple and graceful posture,dynamic beauty and implicit introverted vision,and makes a detailed analysis of its three forms of artistic expression,namely,modeling,decoration,and craftsmanship,so as to conclude its way of artistic reproduction methods and aesthetic characteristics.Then,extending from the artistic characteristics presented by the "tomb figures in music and dance posture" to the aesthetic tastes in the Western Han Dynasty,the paper summarizes the artist features of "tomb figures in music and dance posture" in Xuzhou Museum as good-looking in both stationary and dynamic posture,simple yet outstanding and equipped with both vivid figures and facial expression.The "tomb figures in music and dance posture" in Xuzhou Museum's has inherited the art in the Qin Dynasty and created works of art with the spirit in the Western Han Dynasty,which has promoted the development of pottery art and provided a powerful image basis for the future generations to have a better understanding of social aesthetics in the Western Han Dynasty,with important cultural values and historical influence.
