Color-painted pottery figures of the Han Dynasty is Chinese precious cultural heritage,which has important historical,archeological and artistic value.The conservation and restoration of color-painted pottery figures,especially for the painting visualization,the detection and analysis,and spell on broken potteries,is an latest topic and realistic issues in the field of heritage conservation and restoration.This article cites and elaborates domestic and international theories and achievements about conservation and restoration of color-painted pottery figures,and introduces the excavated condition and artistic features of color-painted pottery figures in the Han Dynasty.This paper describes various color-painted pottery figures in the Beidongshan tomb of the Chu prince of the Western Han,which focusing on the conservation and restoration of two color-painted pottery figures,who wear crowns and held before the breast and warriors with weapons in the hand.The paper briefly summarized the risk of conservation and restoration,preventive measures,principles of conservation and restoration,laws and regulations.This article uses reductive description and realistic researchable methods,and describes the process of conservation and restoration of color-painted pottery figures in the Beidongshan tomb of the Chu prince of the Western Han,and srtive to restore the original history of these color-painted pottery figures.
