The ancient Greek society in the classical period presented a prosperous scene.Athens, which was famous for its democratic political system, became the political, economic and cultural center of the Mediterranean world at this time. With the development of Athenian society,Athenian citizen women lived a more secluded life in the classical period. The relationship between Athenian women and property rights in classical times is an important link for us to understand Athenian women's social status, gender relations,Athenian democratic political system and city-state system. Therefore, studying the property rights of Athenian women in the classical period has important academic value for us to understand the Athenian society in the whole classical period. This paper is composed of introduction, text and conclusion. The text is divided into three parts: the first chapter expounds the development and changes of Athenian society in the classical period, and explores the social division of labor between men and women and the social role of citizen women in this period. On this basis, the relationship between Athenian women and property rights is analyzed.By analyzing the social division of the public space and private family life of the female citizens in the polis, this paper analyzes the complex social attributes of the female citizens in the political life, family life and religious life of the polis. The second chapter expounds the specific property rights of women in Athens during the classical period. The property rights owned by female citizens of Athens in the classical era are mainly divided into two parts: property management and property inheritance.Property management rights include housekeeping and child rearing,in which housekeeping is the supervision and control of family property;the main manifestation of property inheritance is the dowry system and the heiress system. The third chapter analyzes the influence and significance of the property rights owned by women in Athens.First of all,in terms of gender division of labor, the management rights of women to obtain property can reflect the social value of women themselves, and it is also a kind of compensation for the lack of political rights;the dowry system is a kind of protection for married women, from both legal and economic aspects.Guarantee the stability of women's marriage, but the negative impact of women's property rights can not be ignored, the dowry increases the economic burden of the bottom family, indirectly causing some women to be difficult to marry, and even the consequences of killing the baby girl;the heiress system also exists Vulnerabilities cause new social problems.Female citizens in the classical era have always been a "phasic" in a negative position under the city-state political system, but as an indispensable member of the family, women have important social responsibilities in family life. They are responsible for managing family property, directing family members and slaves to complete tasks, educating children, and supervising family storage rooms and cellars. However, women do not have the right to own property. They are passively using marriage as a link to become a carrier of property transfer and transfer between families.
