Since the 1980 s,An·Hamilton's works have brought freshness to the installation art field. Her works do not express any specific concept or are themed on any cultural, racial or social issue around the world.Instead, they emphasize on the diversified and deep feelings of viewers. Her works, which stimulate the senses of viewers through texture, spare, sound, etc.,finally lead people to dig into who they are and make introspections. It can be said that viewers of her works are not simple receivers of some aesthetics or concepts any more, but people who can communicate with the works, and discover themselves after enlightened by the works. An·Hamilton' s works are no longer the bridge between artists and viewers, but individual works with their own meanings. Then, how did she do that in her works? What can viewers find after introspection and self-discovery? What is the special and far-reaching value of the works apart from making aesthetics activities more diversified for modern art? These are the questions to be discussed in the paper. This paper will be divided into four parts. The first chapter makes a brief introduction to An·Hamilton's life, and also the outline and characteristics of her works,as well as the background, objective, and significance of the research project. The second chapter makes a detailed explanation of An·Hamilton's works' development and the artistic methods and aesthetic orientation of her in different stages, through concrete works. The third chapter,on the basis of post-modernism and post-modern art, elaborates on the significance of An·Hamilton's aesthetics at present and in the future.Besides, the author connects it with his own graduation work to explain the impact of An·Hamilton's work on his own from the perspective of artistic creation, and then,a further deep thinking about his own work is done.
