It is self-evident that the status of Zhao Mengfu in cultural and art history is significant.There have always been various of researches on life,friends,works and so on about Zhao,we can say that it has become a prosperous subject in the field of the studying on Zhao Mengfu.This thesis is focusing on The Self-portrait of Zhao Mengfu and its copies within the social and cultural background of Yuan dynasty and the life experience of there artist,analyzing the profound meaning of these works from multiple perspectives.In the first chapter: Firstly,the author makes a brief comment on the research overview of this subject.explaining something in the thesis which has learned from or cite the researches results of others'.Secondly,the author sorts the documents and information of different editions of Zhao' portraits and try to make clear the inherent relationship of various of copies.In the second chapter: The author mainly discusses about the appearance feature and clothes characteristics of Zhao in these works and analyzes the deep meaning of the poetry,trying to reveal the political metaphor and the artist' emotion reminded under cover of these works.Research methods in the chapter involves sociology,psychology,the study of images and so on.In the third chapter: The author relates Zhao's self-portraits with the Buddhist image.The discussion in this chapter based on a carved stone made up by three portraits of three famous person in Buddhist culture which has been excavated in the former site of Benyi Temple.Now,it has been collected Song Jiang museum.In the forth chapter: The author compares Zhao's self-portrait with Taoism images especially the masters' portraits,revealing the similarity among them,In the end: The author tries to sum up the main points of all chapters,stressing the significance of this research.From the portraits of Zhao Mengfu,we can infer his internal emotional thoughts as well as explore the Image Culture of different religions in Yuan Dynasty.
