Before the invention of photographic technology, the main basis for future generations to understand the appearance of ancient historical figures was their surviving portraits. In the process of spreading, the portrait of a historical celebrity will spread out many different versions. But relatively speaking,it will gradually form a more popular and recognized "standard image".With the further dissemination and the strengthening of authority, the "standard image" will eventually form a form with certain characteristics and symbols. It is very difficult to compare such a figure with the real appearance of the character.Normally no one cares about its similarity with the character itself. This is a widely accepted ideological form, and therefore has a more powerful authority. This process can be regarded as a common pattern of the formation of ancient historical figures. This article takes Zhao Mengfu's portrait as the object of study, trying to investigate and analyze the formation process of this model. The first chapter of this paper briefly analyses Zhao Mengfu's Self-Painting Portrait.Chapter two examines the eight existing versions of Zhao Mengfu's "cymbal hat image",which has the characteristics of Yuan Dynasty costumes, and is also the most widely circulated and gradually recognized form of Zhao Mengfu in later generations.Chapter three collates and proofreads the relevant literature of "cymbal hat crown image" and supplements the "cymbal hat crown image" recorded in several other documents.Chapter IV examines the existing versions and documents of Zhao Mengfu's "image of court clothes",and analyses the reasons why this "image of court clothes" is difficult to become a typical image of Zhao Mengfu.Chapter Five demonstrates several other portraits of Zhao Mengfu that do not have physical features.Chapter 6 analyses the author's problems of Zhao Mengfu's original portraits, and further discusses the difference between "portrait" and "freehand portrait".Finally,it summarizes and analyses the specific process of the formation model of the historical figures.
