A Study On Zhe Expreession Skills And Cultural Implications Of Peony Paintings In Zhe Past Dynasties

Peony has been planted in China for over one thousand years.It is the most characteristic plant in Chinese gardening.Peony has been favored by people in all walks of life since ancient times for being dignified,graceful,colorful and elegant.In the history of Chinese culture and art,peony also has incomparable cultural implication.Craftsmen intend to carve peony patterns on window lattice,beams,tables&chairs and wood beds when they build the house.Artists like to paint their works of peony on silks,rice paper and ceramics.Literati and scholars enjoy writing poems and verses to show their appreciation.singers like singing songs related to peony.From the royal family to the civilians,either weddings,funerals or daily decoration,the love of peony for Chinese has never changed.At the meantime,as an important theme in traditional flower-and-bird painting,the painting skills of peony has been constantly enriched and developed in the long history.This paper mainly focuses on the development and improvement of themes of peony in traditional painting through the following steps: First,to briefly describe our country's peony culture,from the history of growing to its presence in the literature and artistic work;Secondly,it briefly analyzes the enrichment and perfection of peony painting skills and the typical painters and their works in different stages.Thirdly,it briefly describes the "humanistic spirit and connotation" of peony endowed by Chinese people under the framework of Chinese culture.Lastly,to discuss the possible new ways of our painting in the current era which are full of intense collision by various cultures and thoughts;The original appearance of peony has not changed much in the past thousand years.It is also to discuss how we can create new theme of peony in our painting works to the flavor of our era.The completion of this paper mainly used research methods of iconology and history,combined with the study of related documents and the collection of different materials.It is also a combination of my own thoughts and understanding during the practice of my work.
