With the acceleration of globalization and the improvement of China's international status,China's exchanges and cooperation with other countries are becoming more and more frequent. The internationalization process of colleges and universities is irresistible, and exchanges and cooperation between universities in China and those of other countries have developed by leaps and bounds. The contemporary history of Chinese students studying abroad has been more than 160 years.Countless students returned home from abroad and made a lot of contributions to China'^modernization.Meanwhile, foreign universities also pay more and more attention to the target students in China,so much so that they even come to China to launch promotional campaigns.Under this background, the interpretation work of foreign affairs in universities is very important. It is therefore significant to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the interpretation process. On the morning of May 30th,2016,the author of this report had the honour of being the interpreter of a lecture made at the School of Foreign Languages of XX University by Professor Chilton of Education College of University of South Alabama, which is aimed at promoting his university.Half a year later,on the evening of November 7th,2016,the author interpreted for the American teacher of XX University,Mr.Vowell, for his lecture entitled"A comparison between Chinese and American higher education".The"Interpretive Theory"is used as the theoretical framework for the analysis of the difficult points in both interpretation practices. At the same time, the writer also summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of the interpretation work as well as the aspects that are in need of improvement. This report is composed of five parts. The first chapter states the background, purpose and significance of the interpretation tasks. The second chapter is the theory introduction which states the"Three Levels of Interpretation"and the"Triangle Model"of the"Interpretive Theory",and its application in the translation of culture-loaded terms, poems and buzzwords. For the third chapter, the author describes the process of the interpretation tasks in detail including preparation work, the difficulties in the process, such as,multi-tasking,accuracy,deportment and supporting device issues. In the fourth chapter, examples from the two tasks are categorized into proper nouns, long and difficult sentences, figures and other aspects, and their interpreting strategies are analyzed in terms of the Interpretive Theory. The last part is the conclusion of the report summing up the main idea of the Interpretive Theory, the encountered problems and their coping strategies, limitations and suggestions for the interpretation education.
