In 1861,Broca firstly conducted aphasia research and tried to explain pathogenesis of aphasia from the perspective of neuroscience.In the 1970 s,with the rapid development of neurolinguistics,a group of linguists tried to analyze the speech activities of patients with aphasia from the perspective of language generation,words and syntax based on linguistic theories.Aphasia research has been made significant progress under concerted efforts made by medical and linguistic communities.The source text of this translation report is selected from Aphasia and Related Neurogenic Communication Disorders(Chapter Five)published by the company Jones & Bartlett Learning in 2013.The source text is an informative text and involves medical field.It gives clinicians and speech pathologists new insights into to therapy of aphasia.This report on translation is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduces the background and significance of translation project.The second chapter is an analysis of the source text.The third chapter put into perspective the functional equivalence,the guiding theory of the project.The fourth chapter includes comprehensive analysis of the difficulties and their corresponding solutions in the course of translating.The last chapter summarizes the problems in the project and reflects on what improvements will be made in future translating work.
