This translation practice report is based on the E-C translation practice of“ Magic Internet Money: A Book About Bitcoin（Excerpt）”,and this text belongs to the informative text with strict logic,textual cohesion and semantic coherence.Since there are great differences between Chinese and English in terms of cohesive devices,so in the translation practice,the great obstacles are showed in dealing with cohesive devices.The report is a study of grammatical cohesion.According to Halliday’s classification of grammatical cohesion,there are four categories including reference,substitution,ellipsis and conjunction.In this text,three types are embodied,which are reference,substitution and conjunction.Based on the characteristics of the text,the report focuses on the three types and adopts four translation methods under the guidance of functional equivalence theory.Namely:contextualization,addition,omission and repetition.The purpose is to solve the translation difficulties and to achieve the fidelity,coherence and readability of the translation.In fact,the cohesive devices are the tool but the textual coherence is the purpose.Therefore,studying grammatical cohesion is instructive to ensure the textual coherence of translated materials.
