Study Of The Vocabulary In A Brief Account Of The United States Of America

A Brief Account of the United States of America was published in 1838.Its writing and publishing time is in the transition period from modern Chinese to contemporary Chinese.At this time,the Chinese vocabulary has its unique lexical characteristics.Through the study of the vocabulary in the book,we can not only understand the lexical features of the book,but also understand the development of the Chinese vocabulary at that time.In this paper,we make statistics and analysis of all the words in A Brief Account of the United States of Ameria,which was proofread by Liu Lusheng in 1997,and hold the features of the lexicon in the book and the characteristics of the Chinese vocabulary in that period.This paper explores the vocabulary of the book from three aspects: the composition of the vocabulary,the special vocabulary and the characteristics of its use,which is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,this chapter is divided into four parts: the general introduction of the author and book,research statues,research significance and the research methods.The second chapter is the composition of the vocabulary in the book,this chapter organizes and analyzes the composition of the vocabulary from the two aspects of word frequency and word meaning.The third chapter is to explore the special words in the book,which include three kinds of words: inverse morphemes words,self-created words and loanwords.The fourth chapter is the study of the use characteristics of the book's vocabulary.The fifth chapter is the final summary.
