A Study Of Aesthetic Sensation In The Perspective Of Levi-Strauss Structural Anthropology

Claude Levy-Strauss(Claude Lévi-Strauss,1908-2009)is a renowned French thinker,cultural anthropologist and academician of the French Academy of Sciences.He is one of the founders of structuralist ideas sweeping the world and is honored as the "father of structuralism"(I.Kurzweil).Although he is generally considered to be mainly a cultural anthropologist,because he also has a wide range of artistic interests and profound artistic accomplishments,and has considerable attainments in the fields of music,painting and literature,his autobiographical prose "The Tropic of Depression" is well-known.And in almost all works of aesthetic history,"Levi-Strauss" is well-known,so we can not deny that there are quite rich aesthetic ideas in its extensive and profound academic system.Levi-Strauss' s aesthetic thoughts are mainly distributed in two parts: one is scattered in his works of cultural anthropology,and discussed in combination with his original works of cultural anthropology;the other is concentrated in his various artistic criticisms and in combination with specific artistic forms.This paper focuses on Levi-Strauss' s structuralist aesthetic theory,and combines the above two aspects of material to carry out research,mutual reference,complement each other,in order to get a comprehensive and concrete understanding of his aesthetic theory.On the one hand,this paper combs the position and change of Levi-Strauss' cultural anthropology and aesthetic thought in the history of related disciplines.On the other hand,it clarifies the development and change of the category of "aesthetic feeling" in the history of Western Aesthetics from ancient Greece to modern and contemporary Western aesthetics,and establishes the basic background for this topic.In terms of specific research,this paper pays attention to explaining the three characteristics of the basic connotation of Levi-Strauss' aesthetic theory,and at the same time,it pays more attention to the concrete analysis and interpretation of cultural anthropological materials and related art forms cases which Levi-Strauss used or noticed.Especially for Levi-Strauss,a scholar with a very rich research background,we should pay more attention to the combination of various materials and comparative interpretation.Levi-Strauss' aesthetic theory is inevitably influenced by his structuralism.Applying "deep model" and borrowing relevant linguistic terms and concepts,this paper makes a deep structural interpretation of aesthetic feeling and art cases until the unconscious realm,which makes the aesthetic problem no longer exist in isolation,but has a wide and close connection with the outside world;it is no longer a plane problem,but a three-dimensional,hierarchical tree of meaning.Levi-Strauss' s structuralist analysis of aesthetic problems is creative,which provides us with new ideas and methods for further exploring and solving aesthetic problems,and has important theoretical significance and practical value.
