Effects Of Mate Selection Environment And Mate Resources On Mate Preference Of Unmarried Urban Youth Aged 20-30

Mate-selection is a very important link in the process of marriage,and it has also been a hot topic of research in recent years,how to choose the best mate according to the external environment and internal resources is a realistic problem that individuals face when choosing a mate,in this study,a questionnaire and an experiment were used to investigate the mate preference of individuals.Objective:(1)A survey was conducted on the mate preference of unmarried young people aged 20-30,including graduate students and urban workers,in order to learn about the general mate trends and current situation of this group;(2)The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of external environment and internal resources on the mate preference of unmarried youth aged 20-30 within different sex ratios.Methods:(1)In the first study,400 graduate students and urban workers is selected to understand the general trend of mate preference of this group by using the ranking of mate preference and a 5-point rating questionnaire.(2)Study 2 selects133 postgraduates to adopt 2(mate selection environment : advantage,disadvantage)×3(mate resources: high,middle,low)two-factor mixed experiment design to explore the influence of external mate environment and internal mate resources on mate preference of postgraduates.Mate selection environment is the factor between subjects,mate resource is the factor within subjects,and the dependent variable is the percentage of the amount of money invested in each mate preference.(3)Study 3 selects 135 urban workers to adopt 2(mate selection environment : advantage,disadvantage)×3(mate resources: high,middle,low)two-factor mixed experiment design to explore the influence of external mate environment and internal mate resource on the mate preference of urban workers.Mate selection environment is the factor between subjects,mate resource is the factor within subjects,and the dependent variable was the percentage of the amount of money invested in each mate preference.Results:(1)The results of study 1 showed that the top three important mate preferences of graduate studentsin general are physical health,love and shared life values,in general,the top three important mate preferences of urban workers are love,responsibility and good health;The unmarried youth who choose a mate advantage rank love,sincerity and kindness,common life values,health,responsibility and loyalty at the top of the list;Unmarried young people who are disadvantaged in choosing a spouse rank high in terms of health,love,shared life values,sincerity,kindness,responsibility,character and filial piety;Individuals on the 21 preferences overall 5 points score high,the highest graduate score is a common life values,urban workers score the highest is loyalty.(2)The results of study 2 showed that the main effects of mate resources on love,sincerity,kindness,loyalty,education,ability and creativity were significant,the main effect of mate selection environment is significant on sincerity and kindness,and mate environment and mate resource had significant interaction on loyalty and SES.(3)The results of study 3 showed that the main effects of the resources on love,sincerity,kindness,loyalty,future income prospects,physical health,ability,appearance and creativity of urban workers are significant,the main effect of mate selection environment is significant in loyalty and ability;mate selection environment and mate resources interact significantly on SES,which is composed of sincerity,kindness,responsibility and socioeconomic status.Conclusions:(1)The necessities of postgraduates in different mate selection environments include love,sincerity and kindness.The necessities of mate advantage also include loyalty;the luxury items for graduate students in different mate settings include creativity,and the luxury for mate advantage include ability and education.(2)The necessities of urban workers in different mate selection environments include love,while the necessities of mate disadvantage include sincerity,kindness and loyalty;The luxury goods of urban workers in different mate selection environments include future income prospects,creativity and socioeconomic status.The luxury goods of mate advantages also include appearance.The luxury goods of mate disadvantages also include sense of responsibility and ability.(3)The variations of mate resources will cause the changes of unmarried young people aged 20-30 in the characteristics of love,sincerity,kindness,loyalty,education,ability and creativity.(4)Unmarried youthaged 20-30 years old have different preferences for necessities and luxuries under different mate selection environments and mate resources,and their mate preferences are influenced by internal and external factors.
