Research On The Female Images In The Films Of Peter Chan

By combing Peter Chan's films,we can find that the female image characteristics in the films can be roughly divided into three types: the dream chasers,the emotional traitors and those who grow to excellent women.These three types of images represent the three stages of women's life experience.In Peter Chan's movies,women usually have keen determination to achieve life goals and ideals in their life.In order to achieve their goals,thoese who become more calm and rational as life intensifys their implementation capaciltythe are dream chasers.However,women are also likely to become emotional traitors in the process of strengthening themselves and realizing their ideals.On the road of personal struggle,some women transform themselves to adapt to the living environment and break through the predicament in life by abandoning unrealistic feelings,restraining romance and unreality in emotions,and by negating gender traits.As a common challenge that individuals must face in Peter Chan's films,there is no essential difference between men and women in the pursuit of their life goal.However,in these films,women who have achieved ideals are faced with more difficulties than men.Through the partial negation of female traits,women have broken through the obstacles and predicaments and realized their personal ideals.At the same time,the negation of the traits brought about by their own gender has also brought anxiety and loss to women's gender identity.Women are faced with the dilemma of the second level-emotional dilemma.When the second layer of dilemma was also broken by the women in the film,the women had already completed the return of femininity through the negation of the negation.They realized the growth and perfection of personality,cognition and thinking.They have grown to excellent women.Based on 14 films directed by Peter Chan,this paper first combs out the three characteristics of female images in his films.The full text is divided into three chapters,with eight typical films discussing the three characteristics of female images in Peter Chan's films and the methods of film creation.While discussingthe three kinds of characteristics separately,this paper tries to analyze the internal relationship between the characteristics of female images.
