A Study On The Inlaid Decoration Of Goryeo Porcelain

Goryeo dynasty was founded in 918.They began to producing porcelain at high temperatures in the Korean Peninsula,and it was a revolution that marked a milestone in the history of ceramics.The Goryeo celadon,or celadon produced during the Goryeo period(A.D.918-1392),was recognized by society at that time for its beautiful glaze color.Since the 20 th century,there have been many studies about Goryeo celadon.Because inlaid decoration is the most distinctive and most representative decorative technique of Goryeo porcelain,inlaid decorative Goryeo celadon is a research field that has been receiving great attention from scholars.However,so far,the study of inlaid decoration on Goryeo celadon has been studied mainly from an art history perspective,and there have been studies on the origin of inlaid decoration rarely.The Korean academic community has conducted a study on the quarterly and chronological research for the most distinctive porcelain decoration technique,inlaid decoration of Goryeo celadon,but that was a relatively vulnerable step.In order to clarify the origin of the Goryeo inlaid decoration,which has been continuously discussed in the academic community,first of all,I need collect data for the chronology study of the inlaid decoration.Also the latest issue in academia about relationship between the Goryeo inlaid porcelain and the Northern Chinese inlaid decorative porcelain,I try to produce better results through the preceded chronology research.So I will collect archaeological data of inlaid porcelain like excavated articles from the kiln sites,tombs,temple sites and city sites of Goryeo dynasty.And through the collected archaeological data,I will conduct a detailed analysis of the inlaid techniques and patterns,and also through the archaeological study I try to establish a rudimentary understanding of the chronology of Goryeo inlaid decoration.Therefore,on the basis of the chronology study of the Goryeo inlaid decoration,a comparative study between Goryeo inlaid porcelain and same period's inlaid porcelain of the northern China will be conducted,and an interpretation of the origin and occurrence of the Goryeo inlaid decorative porcelain will be attempted on this study.
