As the most classical form of painting in China, green landscapes emerged as the background'of figure painting in the Wei and Jin Dynasties, and gradually reached its peak in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. In the Song Dynasty, with the prosperity of literati painting,"color"and"ink"exchanged positions on the stage of traditional Chinese painting for the first time.Since then, the expression of ink has become the focus of traditional Chinese painting. After the Qing Dynasty,"color" as the main form of expression gradually faded out of the stage of traditional Chinese painting. At the beginning of the 20th century, with the opening of the country, the influx of various cultural trends of thought, the aesthetic taste and color concept of the Chinese people were influenced by Western art. From the perspective of multi-culture,the color language of the contemporary green landscape is also constantly exploring and evolving, with a new look to begin to show. This paper combs the history of the development of green landscape painting, appreciates and analyses the works of many scholars and predecessors of green landscape painting, and explores and comprehends the process of their creation,so as to have a deeper understanding of the creation and development of green landscape painting. At the present time of cultural diversity,we should learn to inherit the expressive forms of green landscapes and try to make the most traditional Chinese color language and the expressive forms of its own school be inherited and developed.
