Les Contemporans And Modern Chinese Poetry

As one of the most important literature periodicals in modern China,although having existed for a relatively short time,Les Contemporans attracts a lot attention because of its being different from coterie press.In addition,its advocation of modern literature makes Les Contemporans a pearl of Chinese literature periodicals,and there is a lot of room for the further investigation of the poetry in it.The paper consists of three chapters as follows:In chapter one,Les Contemporans is introduced as a whole by virtue of literary field and paratext theories.Specifically,the background,the layout and the cover on which there was few studies made in the past are illustrated.In chapter two,the statistics of the poetry in 31 issues of Les Contemporans is made to show the map of Les Contemporans.Moreover,Wangshu Dai,Aiqing,Chi Xu,Jiangfan Chen and their poetry are analyzed to emphasize the effort made by Les Contemporans to support the local poets.Finally,the translation of poetry in Les Contemporans is investigated with examples,based on which the influence of modern western poetry on Chinese New Poem in 1930s is studied.In chapter three,the ranges of the translation and introduction of poetics and poetry in Les Contemporans are introduced.Lastly,the examples of poetry criticism are analyzed to highlight the contribution made by local poets and scholars to the development of poetics.
