A Report Of The Chinese-English Translation Of Sinicization Of Marxism And The Modernization Of The Chinese National Spirit(Chapter ?)

This is a report of the Chinese-English translation of Sinicization of Marxism and the Modernization of the Chinese National Spirit.This academic work,published by Liu Libo,a professor at School of Marxism in Shaanxi Normal University,has been selected as a foreign translation project in 2017.This book explores the sinicization of Marxism and the modernization of the Chinese national spirit in the cultural perspective.In the ninth chapter,the author elaborates on the harmonious symbiosis between the sinicization of Marxism and the Modernization of the Chinese National in the new historical situation.It also holds that the harmonious symbiosis between the two is conducive to China's active integration into the globalization where challenges and opportunities coexist,thus speeding up the social transformation that is accompanied by failure and success,building a strong socialist cultural power,and promoting the development and dissemination of the Chinese national culture.Therefore,in this project,the translator is responsible for the translation of chapter nine.Based on the adaptation theory established by Verschueren,the translator adopts the translation strategy under the perspectives of linguistic adaptation to guide this Chinese-English translation project.The translation report is composed of five chapters.In the first chapter,task description of the background such as the overview,objectives,nature and features of the translation project are introduced,followed by the overall analysis of the original text.In the second chapter,translation process is shown with designing and planning of the translation project.Chapter three and chapter four are the main body of the report.The translator introduces adaptation theory and discusses the application of linguistic adaptation theory in translation practice from four perspectives of adaptation theory:contextual correlates of adaptability,structural objects of adaptability,dynamics of adaptability and salience of adaptability.In chapter four,the author explains the difficulties encountered in translation practice through case analysis,and makes specific analysis from lexical level,semantic level,syntactic level and pragmatic level.It is also suggested that translation strategies based on four aspects of linguistic adaptation can solve the translation problems.The last chapter summarizes the translation practice according to the experience and lessons,and probes into the enlightenment of the translator in the translation practice and the reflection on the limitations.Through thorough and meticulous translation practice,the author finds it is feasible to apply adaptation theory to Chinese-English academic work translation.Moreover,translators will be enlightened to do more research on social studies under the guidance of strategies of adaptability and Chinese political thought and theoretical achievements can be further known to the outside world.
