On The Relationship Between Sinicization Of Marxism And Mohism

From the cultural perspective, the reason why Sinicization of Marxism, cannot be achieved without deeply analyzing and deriving Chinese traditional culture is that the Chinese communists have combined Chinese concrete practice, Chinese traditional culture, with the universal truth of Marxism to promote and facilitate Sinicization of Marxism. Actually, the Chinese traditional culture is not simply cultural fusion of Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism. As a unique and famous school in Pre-Qin Dynasty, Mohism also played an avoidable role in foundation of Chinese traditional culture and shaping Chinese cultural characteristics. Some certain social ideal, value concept and ethical pursuit in Mohism echoed coincides with Marxism in spite of gap time and space. Therefore, the study of Marxism and Chinese traditional culture relations have impossibly been conducted by ignoring or neglecting the Mohism. Thus, their relationship will be discussed from two aspects:history and reality. During the Late Qing and Early Republic, with Marxism introduced into China as a kind of western social theory, the Chinese ancient theories-Mohism grew vigorously in academia and made a deeper impact on social culture with its unique characteristics. Moreover, newly-introduced Marxist theory in this period and the Mohist school theory contacted and initially merged, which created favorable conditions for the early dissemination of Marxism; During the May Fourth period, the early communists such as Chen Duxiu, Li Dazhao, Mao Zedong and Cai He-sen, Xiao Chunv, Deng Zhongxia, Wu Yuzhang baptized by thoughts of "revering Mohism but stifling Confucian or attacking Confucian with Mohism supplied appropriate cultural atmosphere and beneficial academic environment for the people of time accepting Marxism and emphasizing Marxism merging and coinciding with Mohism. They interpreted and promoted physically Mohist spirit of asceticism salvation, involved in the new democratic revolution practice. Their own ideas and personality qualities were also affected by the Mohism which made a significant impact on their identity and acceptance of Marxism。During Yanan period, the communists, such as Mao Zedong, Zhang Wentian, Chen Po-ta, Yi Siji, Fan Wenlan, Guo Moruo, Hou Wailu, Lv Zhenyu, Jian BoZan,etc. conducted a deep and detailed analysis and research from the perspectives:Mohism ethics thought, simple materialism and democratic ideas, of which precious materialism in Mohism is the origin of thoughts of Marxism Sinicization theoretical achievements. Highlighting Mohist Spirit contributed directly to enhancing construction of the Chinese Communist Party, the formation of the Yanan Spirit and promoting Sinicization of Marxism. During the modern and contemporary period after the founding of new China, Mohism also produced a certain impact on Sinicization of Marxism and the development of Chinese society. In a word, Mohism went through three periods:merging into ideologies of the early stage of socialist construction, falling low into instruments of political criticism in Cultural Revolution and important cultural origins of theories of socialism with Chinese characteristics. In the new era of promoting coordination of "Four-pronged Comprehensive Strategy" and realizing rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the Party Committee with Xi Jinping as the General Secretary, attached great importance to inheritance of the excellent traditional culture and creative turning-pointing. Mohism, as an origin of traditional culture, merging with Marxism from many perspectives, dazzling up with every passing year, have the theoretical meaning and time values in political, economic, cultural, social and ecological construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics. And they especially provide some direct references for conducting the socialist core values, fulfilling strictly running the Party, implementing characteristic Big-country Diplomacy in the present stage.Thus, Mohism is an important cultural origin of Sinicization of Marxism. Unlike other traditional academic, Mohism and Marxist theory in modern China reflect fusion and integration, rather than conflict and collision. In the historical process of Marxism Sinicization, Mohism, has pushed forward early spread, acceptance, realization and development of Marxism Sinicization and obviously presented in concrete practice of Marxism Sinicization. Meanwhile, application, creation and development of Marxism Sinicization have made a positive and deep impact on Mohism researches. Therefore, though Chinese Party’s researches on Mohism have a political leaning and weakness, Mohism have a beneficial relationship with Marxism Sinicization. A lot of precious ideas have a significantly theoretical meaning in integrating beneficial traditional cultural resources, pushing forward Sinicization and epoch of Marxism.
