Narratology was born in France in the 1960s,and the research focus of narratology rermained mainly in Western Europe and North America. In recent years,a strong craze for narratology is sweeping across China.Chinese scholars cannot merely focus on Western narrative works as Western scholars when exploring the general narrative laws. They should instead pay more attention to indigenous resources around them.Based on Chinese narratives, the book Chinese Narratology studies the development law of Chinese narratives and constructs the unique ideas and systems of Chinese narratology. The translator selects Chapter One "Yuan-narratives and Sun Myths" of Chinese Narratology as the source text of the translation practice. The chapter probes into the initial form of narratives and its formation reasons by studying the relations between yuan-narratives and sun myths and analyzing the trace of yuan-narratives in sun myths, which belongs to a text of narratology. The author conducts this translation under the guide of the principles of "adequacy" and "acceptability" in the inspiration of Polysystem Theory in order to deeply understand the original text and faithfully interpret the original text. The translator hopes that the translation can convey profound Chinese narrative culture and the ideas and systems of Chinese narratology, thus arousing the attention of the international community to Chinese narratology. There are four chapters in the translation report. The first chapter reviews the translation practice, including the contents of the translation and the objectives of the translation practice, and then outlines the structure of this report. The second chapter gives a sketch of the translation practice, concerning the preparation before the translation practice, such as collect information of the author and his book, finding and reading parallel texts and making the schedule of the translation practice, the implementation of the translation practice, such as source text reading, target text conversion and term collection and arrangement, and post-translation management, such as proofreading, and reflections on the translation practice. The third chapter is the main part of the translation report. The translator illustrates problems and solutions in the translation practice from three perspectives:(1)translation of terms;(2)reconstruction of images;(3)accurate conveyance of ideas in narratives. The last chapter is the summary of the translation practice and also refers to unsolved problems and reflection on them.
