As the society develops, people are leading a higher standard of children's education more than ever.Based on Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory, the translator translates and composes the report on 4th to 6th chapters of World Schooling, written by Ashley Dymock De Tello, which mainly introduces what world schooling is,why and how to make it happen. The excerpted chapters mainly present four different categories of world schooling. In the translation process, the translator benefits a lot from the translation practice. The reasons why the translator chooses the book are as follows.First, some children are bored with the traditional school life. What's more, most of the children rarely travel, and their parents have no idea of educating their children through travelling. Therefore,an unusual and creative method of education is needed urgently.Second,it is closely related to the translator's life and work.As a primary school teacher and a two-year old child's mother, guided by a series of theories and practices of the book, the translator would combine travelling and education ingeniously and educate the children creatively.Last but not least, this translation practice enhances the translator's comprehension of the translation theories and improves her abilities of translation. The translation report consists of four parts. The first part is the description of the task, including sorce of the text, task signifi cance and features of the source text; The second part is the description of the translation process, including pre-translation preparation, translation process and post-translation quality control,in which the preparation of Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory is the most important part. The third part is case study, which is the core part of the report.Cases are analyzed by using the translation strategies at lexical level, syntactic level and discoursal level, such as conversion, domestication, conjunction and so on.The fourth part is summary. In this part, the translator sums up the experience gained from the translation process and the deficiencies of the report.
