A Report On E-C Translation Of Educators' Professional Liability Insurance Policy

With the development of society,people 's risk consciousness rises,and an increasing number of people turn to the insurance for security.For teachers,they need avert the risk by professional liability insurance besides taking precaution and strengthening their responsibility.At present,in China,insurance industry is an emerging industry which is not perfect in teachers' professional liability insurance compared with those of Western countries.Therefore,the translation of policies about educators' professional liability may provide a reference and guidance for the development of insurance industry and the protection of teachers in China.Under the guidance of Catford's translation shifts,this report studies the strategies of the E-C translation of insurance policies.It consists of four chapters.Chapter 1 is the task description which consists of the introduction and linguistic features of the source text,and its research background and significance.Chapter 2 describes how the translation practice is conducted,including preparations before translation,translation process,and quality control.Chapter 3 is the case analysis,which mainly explores the strategies for E-C translation of insurance policies at lexical,syntactic and discourse levels with the guidance of Catford's translation shifts.Chapter 4 makes a summary of the experience and lessons from the translation practice,and lists some unresolved problems.Through this translation practice,the author has enhanced the understanding of insurance texts translation.It is expected that this translation can enrich the researches on insurance policy translation in China and provide references for the future translation and research of this field.
