Under the background of economic globalization,polictic,economic,and cultural communciation among countries is becoming closer.Learning from each other among different countries is becoming increasingly frequent.However,as the bridge of communication and cooperation,translation is becoming an indispensable part of international cooperation.In recent years,to prevent the pollution of environment and resources,many relevant studies have been done both at home and abroad.However,it is unrealistic to solve all problems with the strength of only one country.Therefore,it is necessary to study and learn from foreign achievements of research.This report is based on the translation of two articles about oil and water management,and two articles are downloaded from the World Petroleum Council Guide(WPC).This report includes four parts.Chapter one introduces task source,including source text of features and task significance.Chapter two describes the process of the translation task,mainly including the preparation before translation,time arrangement and quality control.Chapter three is about case analysis.The translator uses the Skopos Theory as a guide to discuss translation methods and strategies for translation text.At lexical level,this report deals with oil and water management abbreviations,and different word meanings in translation from English to Chinese.Moreover,some corresponding applications,such as addition and omission are also presented by the translator.At syntactic level,methods are applied to handle with the translation of passive sentences and complex sentences.Finally,cohesion of the context in the translation texts is employed to the discourse level.Last but not least,Chapter four describes the translation experience and lessons.By writing this report,the translator has acquired more knowledge about oil and water management,and has provided more information for Chinese scholars who work in this field.
