As one kind of pre-service English teachers,Master of English Education has attracted more and more attention in the field of foreign language teaching in recent years.The cultivation of Master of English Education mainly through the learning of curriculum,curriculum plays a key role in the whole cultivation process of Master of Education.According to the cultivation program of Master of English Education,the cultivation of Masters of English education adheres to the principle of combining theory with practice.First,they study the theoretical content of the curriculum systematically in the first academic year,and then they go to the practice school to have education practicum in the second academic year.Education practicum can let them directly experience the school life,understand teachers' work,transform the theory they have learned into teaching practice,guide practical teaching with theoretical content,and test theoretical content with practical teaching.This research takes English M.Ed.students of grade 2017 from a key nornal university as research participants,among them 56 are investigated by questionnaires,6 English M.Ed.students from different practice schools participate in the follow-up interviews.From the perspective of practice,this research maiuly explores the following two questions:(1)After education practicum,what are English M.Ed.students' views of the effectiveness of English M.Ed.curriculum content on the whole?(2)What kinds of contents are effective and what kinds of contents are not effective enough for teaching practice?This research finds that firstly,after education practicum,on the whole English M.Ed.students think the curriculum contents are effective,the learning of theoretical contents do much help to students' practical teaching;secondly,students think content related to activity design and case analysis,content related to English testing and psychology and content related to English teaching theory and skills are helpful to their teaching practice with high effectiveness;however,content related to teacher professional development and pedagogy,content related to language skills and language in use and content related to foreign language research methodology do not have obvious functions to help their teaching practicum,these contents are not effective enough.This research offers references for the optimization of English M.Ed.curriculum content and the cultivation of Masters of English education.The theoretical content should be connected with the teaching practice of primary and secondary schools,more teaching cases should be added.English M.Ed.students should look at the curriculum content in a right way.For the practical curriculum content,they should continue to strengthen learning and reflection.For ineffective curriculum content,they need to realize the potential role of these contents.
