Research On Incomplete Writing In Yan Lianke's Novels

Yan Lianke is a unique writer in contemporary literary circle,whose literary works are numerous in variety,full of exaggerated imagination and realistic meanings.He is called "a master of absurd realism",but this title is not identified by himself.He creates a concept of "fantasy-realism" to describe his concept of creation.Through various figures in his novel,we can see that he makes lots of effort to shape figures who're disabled.Except the novel "Shou Huo" that especially portrays disabled people,there're many other disabled figures in his novels.And even the manner of story-telling is incomplete,act in concert with the content.The concept of his incomplete writing,reflect that he has special experiences of misfortune and suffering in life and special focus on dignity in humanity.The introduce of this paper summarizes the basic information of Yan Lianke's novel creation,analyzes the research value of his incomplete writing,introduce the status quo of researches on his novels,especially for his incomplete writing.At the same time,this paper gives an analysis on the shortcomings of former researches.The whole paper is consisted of three chapters,which centre on the topic of incomplete writing.In chapter one,we elaborate on the types of disabled figures.Generally speaking,the figures that Yan Lianke creates can be divided into two kinds,disabled in body and spirit.Those disabled in body can be divided into two kinds,limb deficiency and defuctionalization.Those disabled in spirit also can be divided into two kinds,mental illness and psychological disorder.What is hidden behind the disabled figures he creates,is the embarrassing plight that rural population is facing,reflecting the sketch of Chinese modernization and his insight of the defective realization.In chapter two,we discuss the narrative strategy of incomplete writing,in his novel Yan Lianke always keeps focus on how to tell a story.Literary form innovation is one of the most important features in his novel,he applies his incomplete writing to his narrative strategy.First of all,he adopts an incomplete manner to show directly in structure,using Xu Yan literary form to bring readers an incomplete reading experience.Secondly,he shows this incomplete experience with an extreme technique of expression,arranging a life full of incomplete endings for the figures in his novels.Thirdly,he narrates the story from an incomplete person's point of view.In chapter three,we discuss the value orientation of incomplete writing.Why Yan Lianke creates so many incomplete figures,and shows an outstanding feature of incomplete writing in his narrative strategy,is that he wants to bestow more value and meanings on his novel.First of all,we discuss the value orientation in his process of creating incomplete figures that are full of vitality.He writes their stories as if they were real and common persons.Secondly,we analyze his psychological changes of different stages during his writing life.Lastly,we analyze the meanings of his incomplete writing.This paper focuses on the incomplete writing ubiquitous in his novels,gives an overall summary and analysis of his context,psychology and value,from which we can understand the reason and connotation of his incomplete writing.
