The Image Of Overseas Chinese In The Thailand Travel Writing From 1935-2004

Since the period of Sukhothai kingdom,an enormous number of Chinese had been migrated to Thailand after a long period of trade connection and friendship among both nations.In spite of the fact,Thailand was an open country for immigrants but without defined laws and regulations that could restricted to traveler to and from Thailand.That so called negligibility came up with inseparable partnership between two nations by leaving effect of Overseas Chinese characteristics in Thai culture.After all,Overseas Chinese people have been and still contributing a significant role in Thai society whether in economy,culture,political,education or other parts.This research study is figuring out Thai travel writings of Thailand from the period 1935 to 2004.Uses the methods of imagery and narrative theory to analyze the image of Overseas Chinese in the travel writings of Thailand.And discusses the image of Overseas Chinese on Thai society,and gives some reflections on the images of Overseas Chinese.This research is divided into seven chapters;Introduction mainly introduces the research reasons,research purposes and significance of Thai travel writings,then examines the research status of related papers,and related concepts and theories.The first chapter is mainly analyzes the Chinese coolies and housekeeper images in the travel writings.Introduce the life situation of Overseas Chinese when they first entered Thailand,the situation of Overseas Chinese who work hard and how the Overseas Chinese people adapt to local life.In the part of image of the housekeeper,it introduces the work situation,ideology and behavior of the housekeeper,and the female image that appeared in the travel writings of Thailand was clarified.The second chapter mainly analyzes the cultural image of Overseas Chinese in the travel writing.This chapter discusses the Overseas Chinese food culture.Then learning about the Chinese traditional Chao opera and its changes through travel writing.Finally analyzes Chinese attitude towards education.The third chapter is to analyze the corporate image expressed in the travel writings,such as the geography association,the karmic association and the charity association.The main purpose of these associations is to protect the interests of Chinese and to solve the problems between Overseas Chinese people.The fourth chapter discusses the influence of Chinese people on Thai society from the perspective of Chinese image.It is mainly divided into four parts.First,the impact on population,second,the influence on language,and third,the impact on education.Fourth,the impact on the economy.Moreover,these influences also give some thoughts on China's relationship.The fifth chapter is mainly analyzes the thinking drawn from the Overseas Chinese image,cultural image and corporate image.It is hoped that not only a simple analysis of these images,but also the life situation background of the Overseas Chinese in the society can be understood from these images.And further thinking can be carried out.Last part is the conclusion.The author hopes that readers will be able to better understand the living conditions,lifestyles and social conditions of Overseas Chinese people in Thailand.At the same time,I hope that we can do our part for the friendly exchanges between China and Thailand.
