A Translation Report On Jingdezhen Municipal Government Work Report 2018

Recent years have witnessed the rapid development of China.Under the background of the Belt and Road initiative,China constantly expands the opening up to the outside world to promote the communication and cooperation with other countries,striving to appear in the international arena with a better image.In this process,cross-cultural communication and the translation for international publicity play a very important role.So,to help international friends better know about China,it's of significance for people to do the translation for international publicity and build a bridge for the communication between China and the outside world.As an important medium to introduce government's work and the guiding principles and policies of Central Party Committee,and as the important window from which foreign media and countries can learn about the condition of China,the translation of central government work reports has already attracted much attention.Many scholars in China have studied the translation of government work reports by adopting theories,such as variation,skopostheorie,functional equivalence,and text typology.Nonetheless,the translation of government work reports at county and municipal level,even at provincial level,which is also an important form to demonstrate China,hasn't received enough attention.And many local government work reports still haven't got their English versions.Jingdezhen municipal government work reports belong to the official documents released by the municipal government.This report not only describes the achievements made by the city in the past year,but also specifies a series of goals to be realized by the city in the following year.In this thesis,on the basis of the translation of Jingdezhen Municipal Government Work Report 2018,the author introduced the translation of the government work report respectively from the lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.First,at the lexical level,the thesis mainly introduced the translation of some words,such as proper nouns,numerical abbreviations and intensifiers.Then,at the syntactic level,the translation of non-subject and bamboo-structured sentences were talked about.At last,the thesis elaborated on the translation at textual level from reference,conjunction and repetition.With Jingdezhen Municipal Government Work Report 2018 as the example,the author hopes it will be helpful for the translation of Jingdezhen municipal and other local government work reports in the future.
