Research On Problems And Countermeasures Of English Teaching In Secondary Vocational Schools

As an important part of secondary vocational education system,Secondary Vocational School undertakes the task of training comprehensive professional skilled graduates.In practice,however,the overall result of our Secondary Vocational School English teaching is unsatisfactory.There are problems like teaching and employment lost connection,students' English level can't meet the employers' requirements.This results in the contradiction to fulfill the great social demand for professional technology talented person with adequate English level.With the same teaching object,English teaching of General Senior High School has formed a comparatively complete system after years of developing under high attention.To improve the quality of English teaching in Secondary Vocational School,the study takes a local Secondary Vocational School and General Senior High School as an example to do the comparative analysis on the difference between each other,adopting the methods of classroom observation,questionnaires and interviews.The purpose of the study is to analysis and summary the advantages General Senior High School has in English teaching and put forward some pertinent suggestions for Secondary Vocational School English teaching.According to the results of the comparative analysis about basic situation of English teachers,curriculum setting of English,teaching methods in English class,teaching evaluation of English and students' English study situation,I found out that English teaching of Secondary Vocational School has the following defects:lack of emphasis on English course,lack of construction on teaching staff,lack of practicality in English textbooks,lack of diversity in teaching method and lack of learning initiative of students.To improve the matters,I put forward 5 suggestions to promote English teaching reform of Secondary Vocational School:improve teaching assessment and teaching staff construction,develop school-based curriculum,change teaching method,cultivate a good attitude and habit for English learning and strengthen teachers' professional development.
