This thesis is a practical report based on the author's English-Chinese consecutive interpreting(CI)practice for a commercial meeting in June 2018.This report, targeted at the interpretation transcript, analyzes a series of problems encountered under the guidance of Gile's Effort Model and Comprehension Equation,it is found that the trigger of all problems lies in the maldistribution of effort. The author summarizes the factors affecting the CI performance, classifies the factors from two categories, namely, linguistic knowledge and extra-linguistic knowledge, analyzes the cases through the application of Gile's Effort Model and Comprehension Equation, and gives targeted coping strategies to balance the effort distribution so as to improve the on-site CI quality.Through analysis, the report draws the following conclusions:1.Pre-preparation is significant;2.On-site response should be flexible;3.Post-interpreting reflection is necessary. It is expected that this practical report will be beneficial for interpreters to improve the CI performance in the future.
