Military diplomacy is of vital importance for all countries. With the flourishing development of China's military diplomacy, more and more foreign officers come to China's military academies to study professional military knowledge and other courses that are necessary for their life and study."The Common Knowledge of Chinese Law" is a compulsory course for all trained officers.During the internship at Nanjing Army Engineering University(AEU),the reporter served as the interpreter of this course, assisting the Chinese professor to get all trained foreign officers across the basic Chinese legal knowledge by means of class consecutive interpretation. In the course of this interpretation, the reporter encountered two types of obstacles from the perspective of Chinese to English interpretation and English to Chinese interpretation respectively. The former is mainly reflected in two aspects:the lack of legal terminology and the poor interpretation ability without note-taking.The latter has a close bearing on the inadequate capability of accent recognition and the limited cross-cultural background reserve.By analyzing the materials and referring to the relevant researches, the reporter put forward corresponding solutions to the above problems as follows:for Chinese to English interpretation:firstly, interpreters should prepare relevant terminologies and professional knowledge in advance.Secondly, interpreters are supposed to enhance their interpretation ability without note-taking by doing some comprehensive drills like short-term memory exercises. For English to Chinese interpretation:firstly, interpreters should train their recognition capacities of diversified accents, classifying and summarizing the rules of those typical accents.Secondly, interpreters should raise their cross-cultural awareness and enrich the reserve of cross-cultural background knowledge. The four solutions mentioned in this report make sense in providing reference for interpreters of military training and legal affairs and for researchers in this field.
