The belief of Feishan was the local belief that originated in Jingzhou in the early years of the Song Dynasty.Later it developed into Xiang,Gui,Yi,and Sui,and it has a wide range of influence. Many scholars have studied the power balance of local society through the development of Feishan belief, including the interaction of state power and ethnic power. The spatial and temporal distribution of Feishan belief in Western Hunan can provide a good material for these studies. The legendary deity of Feishan belief is the leader of barbarism in history, named Zaisi Yang. The natural lack of historical materials makes many problems worth exploring from Yang Zaisi to Feishan deity.Through the inscriptions and historical documents recorded in the historical records,it can be concluded that the distribution of Feishan belief in the western part of this country has gradually increased from the Song and Ming Dynasties to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, decreased from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to today. It spreads from the center of Jingzhou and maintains a formal form in and around Jingzhou. When integrated into the Miao and Tujia areas, the belief has undergone a “localization”change in harmony with local beliefs.Combining the research of scholars, related materials and the experience of field research, the author believes that the temporal and spatial distribution of Feishan belief in Xiangxi area is the direct cause of the promotion of Yang's ethnic group. The perfusion of national ideology is the main reason, and the religious psychological needs of the masses is the essential reason. The spread and development of Feishan belief in the western Hunan region has shaped the character of the heroes of the local people, fostered the concept of ethics, and is conducive to the unity of the masses and the cohesion of the nation.
