English writing is an important part of English pragmatic competence for senior high school students,but it is always a weak link in the process of English learning.Most of the students lack interest and enthusiasm in English writing,so it's tough to improve the students' writing proficiency.Based on the above situation,the author intended to introduce Anchored Instruction Model to high school English writing class and made empirical researches,aiming to explore a more effective teaching model to help improve the students' writing ability.Anchored instruction is a typical instruction model which is based on the constructivism theory.It is different from the traditional teaching model which is teacher-centered;it reflects the teaching theory of the combination of teachers' teaching and students' learning.This paper presents the following three questions:1.Can Anchored instruction stimulate students' interest in English writing? 2.Can Anchored instruction improve students' English writing ability? 3.Can Anchored instruction improve students' autonomous learning ability?The methodologies in this thesis mainly contain questionnaire survey and comparative experiment.A questionnaire was used to obtain the writing situation of the experimental class and the control class.In addition,the researcher did the pre-test to obtain the students' writing level of the two classes.Then experiment design and experiment were carried out.In the experimental class the Anchored Instruction Model was applied.In the control class the product method was employed.According to the results of the experiment,the author finds that Anchored Instruction can stimulate students' interest in English writing and group learning makes the students take part in the class writing activities more actively.Anchored Instruction has a positive effect on improving students' English writing ability.Besides,Anchored Instruction meets the needs of the students' autonomous learning to a great extent,thus students' autonomous learning ability is improved.
