The tomb of Marquis of Haihun was listed as one of China's most significant archaeological finds in 2015.It is located on a hillock named Guo Dun,at the village of Da Tangping in Xinjian District,Nanchang city,Jiangxi Province. Its location is far away from north-central China;therefore,it has been left intact by the rampant tomb-theft activities in Chinese history. From 2011 when it was found to October.2016 when its excavation was completed, during those five years of painstaking work, from this tomb have been excavated more than one thousand cultural relics, including gold, silver, jade, bronze pottery and lacquered artifacts, bamboo slips, wooden tablets and so on.Those well-preserved delicate funerary artworks provide abundant material and pictorial data for studying aesthetic culture of Han Dynasty. At present, foreign and Chinese scholars have been drawn to those artworks and shown interest in the studying them archaeologically and culturally. There are few scholars who study their aesthetic values and cultural significance from the angle of aesthetic culture, though. This paper will be based on Aesthetics of Practice History, integrating studies of Art History,of Aesthetic Consciousness History, and other related humanistic and social sciences, with the gold and jade wares, bronze lamps, horse frontlets and eaves tiles as the research objects. In this paper,Author tries to explore the historical content of social practice of aesthetic culture in Western Han Dynasty, which are presented by those research objects, the content including the specific connotation of socially aesthetic ideology and the aesthetic culture form of perceptual experience practice. And their major features of aesthetic culture, such as the spheres of ordinary life, personification, and vitalization. The paper includes five chapters, with the first chapter being an introduction. The second chapter is about golden coins from the tomb, such as cake-shaped gold,hoof-shaped gold, and kylin-toe shaped gold. The third one is about jade artifacts, such as a deep-carved jade pendant with dragon, phoenix, tiger design,a jade ornamented sword, and a jade pedant with dancer design. The fourth is about bronze lamps, including a bean-shaped lamp,a tree-shaped lamp, and a lamp with goose and fish figure pattern. The fifth is about horse frontlets and eaves tiles. Those works of art from the tomb of Marquis of Haihun actually embody both the unique, profound, rich, vivid connotation of socially aesthetic ideology and the exquisite and high-leveled artisan production in Western Han Dynasty.A thorough exploration of those artworks can enhance scholastic understanding of the aesthetic culture of Han Dynasty and help us explore the developmental pathway of history of Chinese aesthetically cultural history. We and our descendants can also learn the historic essence created by aesthetic practice in Han Dynasty, improve our cultural confidence, and make efforts to set a new historical height for Chinese aesthetic culture.
