Wang Gong,the son of Wang Su who was the well-known minister in Qingli Period in the Northern Song dynasty.As the only eminent celebrity with his work spreading,he often appeared to be one of Sushi's best friends from the public's perspective nowadays.However there is few literature that recorded his life story and the study to this work.This article focuses on Wang Gong with the help of collecting and sorting out relevant material in order to form a complete,real image of Wang Gong as a famous minister and Sushi's best friend.Moreover after the exploration of notes as well as background and value of poetry writing,the lives of intellectuals in Late Northern Song Dynasty under the background of partisan conflicts are revealed to some extent.Wang Gong,also known as Ding Guo,was born in 1048 and died in 1117.In his youth,“he spared no effort to learn knowledge and composed poetries with strong determination.A good comprehension of current issues,he was never afraid of expressing himself." Because of this,he was thought highly by ministers Wu Chong and Feng Jing.In the six year of Xining,Wang Gong entered into political stratum due to recommendation by celebrities and was appointed as Book Proofreading Officials.Therefore his political career with ups and downs set out.Though he suffered obstacles in his position,he was described in history : “ In his tortuous life experience,he always preferred to judge people fearlessly.Due to this,he didn't get along with his fellows.Whenever his position was removed,he was seen as someone who spoke inappropriate words.That's why he failed to be supreme in his time”.His story of life was only recorded in dozens of words in history,surprisingly often described in other biography.He had a close relationship with Sushi because they were not only interconnected politically with honor and disgrace shared by both and but also enjoyed common hobby in literature art.People think highly of their friendship that remained constant though encountering with changeable circumstances.After all political relationship has always been the core correlation and was strengthened in Wutai Poem case that connected both extensively.Besides both of them had common interest in literatureart where they shared numerous collaboration in poverty.This common interests deepened the relationship between them.One important reason for their close relationship was that they obtained multiple connections in each others life.The brother of Sushi called Zhang Fangping as godfather who was the father-in-Law of Zhang Gong.That was a factor that can't be overlooked.Meanwhile Wanggong has been an important member in Su's Sichuan School and has frequently contacted with other intellectuals such as Su Zhe and Huang Tingjian.The collection of Wang Gong's poetry didn't exist with only ten poetry and ten articles left.However his writing style still can be traced.Huang Tingjian pointed out in the preface of his collection “ The first time reading Wang Gong's article,I failed to treasure even looked down upon it.However there was extraordinary statements in his work that will surprise the public… his poem and his articles that are not restricted to common rules look at a bigger picture.Striving to conquer the world with his work,he devoted himself in writing after achievement.He never allows himself following the crowd though his work seems unsatisfactory to a few”.Huang Tingjian's comments on WangGong's work pertinently explained Wang's art form of literature.The three existing notes of Wang Gong are as follow : Jiashen Miscellaneous Records,The Notes Of Things Around,Random Notes.These three notes are of great importance in history material as the complementary of official history.
