With the advent of the global Internet era and the rapid development of national social economy,the ideological and moral construction of young people in China is facing many new problems and challenges.The report of the Eighteenth National Congress put forward the fundamental task of education of "building up morality and cultivating people".Since then it has become an important task for schools to infiltrate moral education into subject teaching.The English Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017)(hereinafter referred to as the new curriculum standards)puts "developing the English key competency and implementing the fundamental task of high moral values establishment and people cultivation" in the first place.As the carrier of moral education factors,English textbooks play an indispensable role in the implementation of the fundamental task of "cultivating morality and cultivating people" in the English disciplines.However,there exist the following problems in English teaching in junior middle schools at present: neglecting moral education,not realizing the importance of moral guidance for junior middle school students;paying attention to achievements,but the implementation of English key competency is not ideal;ignoring the humanism of English subject and lacking of excavation of moral content in textbooks.In order to solve the above problems,according to the theme context of the New Curriculum Standards,this study picks out the moral education factors in the articles of the junior middle school English textbook(Grade 7-9)published by the Foreign Language Study Press(2012),explores the rich morality among them from the four aspects of classification,setting,frequency and presentation of moral education factors.In addition,this study uses the methods of questionnaire survey and classroom observations to investigate the problems of junior middle school English teachers using the moral education materials in the textbooks to infiltrate moral education,including the following four dimensions: middle school English teachers' moral education infiltration consciousness,the identification of moral education materials in the textbooks,the use and expansion conditions,and external support conditions.Through analysis of the data collected with the software of Wenjuanxing,we obtained the following findings:(1)Junior middle school English teachers have a quite high awareness of moral education penetration in English subjects,but lack of urgency.(2)The identification of moral education factors in junior middle school English teachers' textbooks needs to be improved.(3)Junior middle school English teachers are not very good at using and expanding the moral education factors in the textbooks.(4)Families,schools and other relevant education departments have not enough support for teachers' moral penetration.Through the analysis of the results,the present study puts forward the following pedagogical suggestions:(1)Promoting teachers' subjective initiatives,and enhancing the sense of moral education.(2)Exploring the resources of teaching materials fully and studying the value of moral education.(3)Implementing the implementation of moral education in multiple ways.(4)Increasing the support from both students' families and schools.This study proposes strategies to promote the implementation of moral education factors through the exploration of moral education factors and their application in teaching.Due to the limited time and energy of the author,this study has some limitations,such as single research object,there' s a lack of samples,and the validity of the strategy has not been verified.Thus,in the future study,the author will study more textbooks in the follow-up research,expand the samples,apply the teaching strategies proposed in this paper to practice,and provide references for realization of moral education in junior middle school English teaching.
