Civilization Criticism In Nagai Kafuu's Literature

Nagai Kahuu was one of pioneers of Japanese Tanbi school.After Meiji Restoration,Integration,conflict and antagonism between eastern and Western cultures prompted Kahuu to think about Japanese society in the transitional period of civilization.His experience of studying and living abroad deepened his understanding of Western civilization and aggravated his dissatisfaction and rejection of the present situation of Japanese civilization.Then,he created works related to the criticism of civilization.This paper takes the literary works of Kahuu after his return to Japan as the research object,analyses the specific direction of Kahuu's civilization criticism,and explores the core and final destination of his civilization criticism.The paper is composed of three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The introduction mainly introduces the life and creation of Nagai Kahuu,summarizes the research status of Nagai Kahuu and his literature at home and abroad,elaborates the research ideas and significance of this paper.The body part is divided into three aspects: the direction,the core and the destination of Nagai Kahuu's Culture Criticism.In the first chapter,the social reality of the transition period of civilization and the development of the Civilization Criticism theory in the Meiji 1920 s and 1930 s are explained,the three important directions of the early Civilization Criticism of Nagai Kahuu and the direction of Civilization Criticism after the Koutoku Event are analyzed.In the second chapter,starting from the two core of civilization criticism-"freedom" and "beauty",the deep-seated reasons for the formation of civilization criticism and the personal characteristics of Kahuu's culture criticism are discussed.Chapter three mainly discusses the final destination of civilization criticism,Edo Civilization,analyses the reasons and concrete manifestations of the formation of the interest of Kahuu,and then elaborates the attachment and yearning of Kahuu to the Edo world from the two aspects of image and space.The concluding part mainly summarizes the discussion of this article,and makes a comprehensive comment on the writer Nagai Kahuu and the civilized criticism in his literature.Civilization criticism of Nagai Kahuu's Literature has undergone a transformation from positive to negative,from fierce to obscure,but he has never stopped thinking about Japanese modern civilization,insisting on creating in the current social background,depicting the spiritual world of various characters in the transition period of civilization,and expressing his sigh for the changes of the world.From Meiji to Showa,Japanese society became more and more modern.In his later years,Kafuu knew that he could not change the reality.He could only record the "Edo" traces which were about to disappear in writing,leaving a traditional record for future generations.
