The English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School(2017)has raised new and higher requirements for the language ability and learning ability of senior high school students.Meanwhile,it is also stressed that oral English teaching should expand learning channels and conduct blended learning through integrating online and face-to-face learning.Thus this study attempts to explore the impact of online and face-to-face learning on oral English teaching and learning in senior high school,aiming to provide a scientific and effective teaching approach for senior high school.Based on the Constructivism Learning Theory and Mastery Learning Theory,this study will try to answer the following three research questions through reviewing literature relevant to blended learning and oral English teaching and conducting empirical study:(1)What is the impact of the blended learning on senior high school students' oral English learning motivation?(2)What is the impact of the blended learning on senior high school students' oral English proficiency?(3)What are the main factors affecting senior high school students' oral English learning in the blended learning?This study used a combination of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.The subject were 60 senior high school students from two intact classes.The experimental class implemented blended learning,and the traditional oral teaching was conducted in control class.The whole experiment lasted for one semester.The research instruments involved oral test,oral English rating criteria,questionnaires and interviews.All the data were analyzed by SPSS23.0.The major findings of the study are as follows: Blended learning can effectively stimulate students' learning motivation;blended learning can improve students' oral English proficiency,among which pronunciation and intonation,range and accuracy of vocabulary and fluency of language are the most significant ones,while the accuracy and complexity of grammatical structure are insignificant ones;it is also indicated that the main factor affecting the effect of oral English learning is learning autonomy.The research shows that the application of blended learning to oral English teaching could provide theoretical framework and practical reference for oral English teaching in senior high schools.
