The Intelligence Gathering Of The Ccp's Underground Party In Xinxiang(1944~1949)

Xinxiang is located in the north of Henan Province and has always been a small third-class county,because of its north Taihang,south of the Yellow River,and at the intersection of the Pinghan and Daoqing railways,the unique geographical location makes Xinxiang the bridgehead and military station base of the Kuomintang in the north of the Yellow River during the Liberation War.As one of the last two liberated cities in North China,Xinxiang was finally liberated peacefully by the "Peiping way",which was closely related to the intelligence collection of the CCP'S underground party in Xinxiang.In the autumn of 1948,the National Liberation War entered the stage of strategic decisive battle,the cities around Xinxiang have basically been liberated,and the People's Liberation Army has formed a general encirclement of Xinxiang in the military.In order to cooperate with the military operations of the PLA,the underground party of Xinxiang under the leadership of the Xinxiang City Working Committee actively collected intelligence for the 14 th column and the PLA's troops,and carried out counter-measures against the Kuomintang defenders in Xinxiang and mobilization activities for the people from all walks of life in Xinxiang,have cooperated effectively with the political and military actions of the PLA on the hidden front.Through literature research and comparative research,we can learn that,on the one hand,the intelligence collection of the underground party of the CCP in Xinxiang provided important military information to the PLA,promoted the Kuomintang uprising and surrender and the peaceful liberation of Xinxiang,and reduced the loss and destruction of the war to Xinxiang and the people of Xinxiang.On the other hand,the intelligence collection of the CCP's underground party in Xinxiang also provided important information for the PLA to take over the city of Xinxiang and social transformation in the future,which stabilized the social order and accelerated the process of social transformation.However,there are also certain limitations to the intelligence collection of the underground party in Xinxiang,in the process of intelligence collection,because underground staff are not concealed enough,vigilance is not enough,or some members of the political consciousness is not high,rebel against the informant,and caused the personnel sacrifice,branch destruction and other emergencies.The intelligence collection of the CCP's underground party in Xinxiang not only reflects the strategic confrontation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party in the later period of the Liberation War,but also reflects the important role of intelligence work in the war.At the same time,it also provides a reference for the study of the liberation mode of small and medium-sized cities such as Xinxiang.
