Different countries and regions often have different cultural taboos.Understanding and mastering the cultural taboos of the target countries is of great significance to the international education of Chinese and the international promotion of Chinese.Thailand and Cambodia are important countries along the “Belt and Road”.In recent years,the exchange and cooperation between the two countries and China have become closer,and there are more Chinese learners.However,the research on cultural taboos between the two countries is not sufficient,especially it is even rarer to examine the cultural taboos of the two countries in the context of Chinese international education.This paper systematically combs and contrasts the cultural taboos of Cambodia and Thailand from the perspective of Chinese international education,then tries to provide a reference for Chinese international promotion and Chinese cultural communication.On the basis of previous studies,this paper obtains first-hand materials on cultural taboos in Cambodia and Thailand through field research and interviews,and then adopts comparative analysis methods to describe cultural taboos in Cambodia and Thailand,the taboos include diet,social,clothing,digital and so on,sums up the commonality and individuality of the two countries in life taboos,and explores the reasons why Cambodia and Thailand has more things in common in life taboos from the aspects of natural geography,religious politics,social psychology and history and culture.Finally,the paper also interviewed Chinese volunteers to understand the current situation of dealing with cultural taboos in Chinese teaching in Cambodia and Thailand.In response to these shortcomings,the paper puts forward effective strategies to deal with the above cultural taboos from teachers,teaching materials and teaching methods,tries to provide a reference for Chinese international promotion and Chinese communication.
